Go Sit on a Cactus!

This is a πŸ’―% true story…

When I grew up, I lived on the same road as my cousins. We spent a countless hours everyday, playing outside. Water fights, bicycle rides, floating the canal, playing sports, night games and more.

One summer day, my two cousins and I decided to go for a bike ride. A few minutes into our ride my cousin mentions that he needs a plant for his classes at school.

Near the edge of the bike path, we spotted a couple of cacti plants on the side of the hill.

Instead of digging out just one, all three of us should dig up our own individual cactus. Don’t ask me why…

We park our bikes on the bike path, and hiked up the small hillside to the cacti.

Also, if you don’t know this already… I grew up in Wyoming. Cactus really isn’t a super common plant there. They are also brown and ugly.

Not Wyoming, if that’s what your thinking… the cactus!

Shortly after starting our excavation, we realize we came completely unprepared for this particular job. We hadn’t brought any gardening tools, so we found some jagged rocks and proceeded to dig out our plants.

I decided to sit at the top of the dirt hill, directly above my plant…

Do you see where I’m going with this?

As I started digging, the dirt beneath me started to slide and… I slide right on top of that cactus!

I literally sat on a cactus. πŸ˜‚

It really is a hilarious story in retrospect! You might think the worst part was actually sitting on the cactus…

It was the 5 minute bike ride home, after trying to pull out all of the pricks, that were stuck to my butt! Since of course, I had been wearing shorts!

I went home, not only with a sore behind but a bruised ego as well. My sweet cousins felt so bad after the helped me get home, that they went back to get the cactus that I sat on.

Don’t ask me why, I don’t know…

The next day, they gave it to me, so that I could throw it in the nearby canal. πŸ˜‚

Why we threw it in the canal, I’m not sure πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ but then again we were only 10.

The moral of this story, is one: don’t ever dig up a cactus while sitting above it on a hill.

Second: we all know someone who really gets on our nerves. Who might be a little prickle or coarse. Making us wish we could tell them to “Go sit on a cactus!”

But don’t!

Be nice and just think it in your head… πŸ˜†
